Rob’s three-decade career includes senior roles in private equity, investment banking and as an operational CEO. He has also served on several boards as an executive and a non-executive board member.
Large cross border M&A deals, capital raising, restructures & turnarounds have been a feature in his roles as Head of Advisory at Nedbank Corporate and Investment Banking and Chief Investment Officer at Phembani. He was the CEO of AfriSam during a complex balance sheet restructure and business turnaround. His legal training also involved time in the Insolvency & M&A practices of ENS Africa.
Rob has extensive cross-border experience and has concluded many transactions in different jurisdictions in Sub-Saharan Africa. He has worked across various industries and sectors with a strong focus on financial services and industrials.

Tian brings over a decade of advisory expertise to blue-chip clients across Africa and globally, complemented by hands-on operational roles in industrials and financial services.
He holds a finance-focused MBA from London Business School and CEIBS (Shanghai). Most recently, he served as Senior Corporate Finance Transactor at RMB – a natural progression from his strategic advisory tenure at McKinsey & Company. He gained operational and problem solving skills in his role as Strategy & Risk manager at AfriSam. A qualified engineer, his blend of technical rigour and business acumen brings a practical, results driven approach to advisory solutions.
Tian’s experience extends across a variety of sectors with a special affinity for Financial Services, Industrials and Mining. Beyond finance, he has experience in business development & strategic growth, operational turnarounds, corporate governance, enterprise risk management, procurement and logistics.
